Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have free samples?

Our retail partners have testers at their shops so you can try out our fragrances. At this time we do not offer samples or testers.

What is a Field Lab?

Field Lab is our seasonal wilderness release—an exploration at the outer edges of scent, place, and process. Created in fleeting, small batches, these offerings are shaped by the moment and often disappear as quickly as they arrive. Join our newsletter to stay close to the trail and be among the first to discover new Field Lab releases as they emerge. Learn more.

My incense won’t light. Is it defective?

Our incense is made up of three simple ingredients: wildcrafted plant material, tree sap, and the wood stick. There are no artificial burning agents added to our incense, so from time to time a stick will burn out. Just re-light the incense using this technique that works for us 99% of the time:  hold the stick completely vertical and pass the flame up and down the incense. Then really hold the flame on the end and that’s it!

Can I buy your products from a store in my area?

You may be able to find Juniper Ridge products at a retailer near you. We partner with independent shops across the country, and availability can vary by location. If you don’t see us in a store near you, let your favorite retailer know you’d love to carry Juniper Ridge—customer requests go a long way in helping us grow our community!

Why are your prices higher than other companies?

Harvesting and distilling our own fragrances is an intentionally hands-on and resource-intensive process. Every bottle represents dozens of hours spent hiking, foraging, and carefully distilling plants, and we never cut corners. For example, it takes hundreds of gallons of redwood needles to produce a small amount of essential oil. We use only organic ingredients and never rely on inexpensive synthetic fragrances commonly found in mass-market perfumes. The result is a truly authentic scent experience—and once you experience it, we believe the quality speaks for itself!
