We’ve spent many years scouring California’s Sierra Nevadas and perfecting a scent profile that best encapsulates the iconic mountain range, and can’t wait for you to try our newest scent, Sierra Forest. From the Yosemite Valley to the Lake Tahoe Basin, Mount Whitney to the giant sequoia groves of Kings Canyon and Mariposa National Parks, the Sierra Nevada mountains are home to some of the most recognizable landscapes in the U.S. The profile of our Sierra Forest scent channels these landscapes, filling any room with a warm, cozy feel through its woody and green scent notes. The fragrance is made from a combination of the diverse coniferous tree species that call the Sierra Nevadas home, like incense cedar and fir. We’ve made Sierra Forest in a body wash and a room spray so you can transport yourself from home to the tree-lined vistas of the Sierra Nevadas.
At Juniper Ridge, we go into the wilderness and develop scent profiles of wild places to distill their essences down to our essential oils.
The last few months have presented challenges for everyone, and our community of conservationists and small businesses is no exception. That’s why we think it’s more important than ever to get back to our roots, to commemorate and celebrate why we founded Juniper Ridge. People have been in awe of the Sierra Nevada mountain range for thousands of years, and in modern history the region gave birth to the nature preservation movement in the United States. In 1864, the Yosemite Valley became the first instance of nature preservation by the United States Congress, when Abraham Lincoln signed the Yosemite Grant; and there are now three National Parks, two monuments, and close to two dozen state parks in the 400-mile mountain range.
The Sierra Nevada mountain range might be known all around the world, but for us it’s where we grew up, our own backyard. When we started to think about expanding our line of fragrances it was the first place that came to mind. At Juniper Ridge, we go into the wilderness and develop scent profiles of those wild places to distill their essences down to our essential oils; but with Sierra Forest, we had to take our time, simply because it is a place we feel so close to. We wanted to honor the majesty of the landscape and diversity of its varied ecosystems, and we think we nailed it with Sierra Forest.
Famed naturalist, activist, and writer John Muir found his passion for the wilderness in these mountains, and we think he summed up the experience of the Sierra Nevadas best: “Another glorious Sierra day in which one seems to be dissolved and absorbed and sent pulsing onward we know not where. Life seems neither long nor short, and we take no more heed to save time or make haste than do the trees and stars. This is true freedom, a good practical sort of immortality.” This is also one of the reasons 10% of our profits from the Sierra Forest line and all our products go directly to conserving wilderness of the Western United States.
Since we are all sheltering in place these days, and not able to get to those wild places we love, with our newest line, Sierra Forest you can bring the majesty of the Sierra Nevada into your home. We can’t wait for you to check out our new Sierra Forest line!
